Dear Friends,

Marc and KimThanks for visiting my site.  Many of you know my wife, Kim Sloat and I plan to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro July 25 – 30, 2016.  We are excited about the climb but we are also excited and honored to climb as guests of Rotary District 7680 in support of Rotary International’s campaign to End Polio Now.

Rotary International and its partners are in the final push to eliminate Polio worldwide.  Since the End Polio Now campaign began in 1985 the world has seen the polio virus brought to the brink of eradication.  Three key challenges remain.  First, interrupt and eradicate polio in the remaining two countries, second avoid complacency to sustain high levels of immunity, and third leverage the intellectual assets of polio eradication so that they can benefit broader public health priorities.

Rotary International has over 1.2 million volunteers committed to the End Polio Now Campaign.  We are two climbers who want to help.  Each climber commits to raising a minimum of $3,000 each.  We appreciate you considering joining us in the effort by aAppalachian Trail contribution to the End Polio Now Campaign.

We have funded our own climb and travel to Tanzania and Mt. Kilimanjaro.  Every dollar you donate goes directly to the charitable organization.

Great cause. I viewed a special on the polio effort in Pakistan by those brave woman who go door to door to give multiple doses of the vaccine. Many have been murdered by folks who believe it is a U.S. plot to sterilize the children. Good luck and have a great adventure.
